Announcing the 2024-2025 Money Fit National Scholarship: Apply for $1,000

We’re excited to announce the launch of our 4th Annual Money Fit National Scholarship, beginning September 1, 2024, offering a $1,000 award to one deserving student. At Money Fit by DRS, a nonprofit focused on financial wellness since 1996, we’re dedicated to equipping young people with the tools for a strong start—free from debt pitfalls, grounded in sound decisions. Our previous winners have thrived at the University of Kentucky (2021-2022), Rutgers University (2022-2023), and Kennesaw State University (2023-2024), and we’re eager to find our next recipient. This opportunity is open to U.S. students aged 16-20 in high school or early college, providing support for education while encouraging thoughtful financial planning. Applications close July 15, 2025—visit moneyfit.org/scholarship-apply to begin.

Our Purpose: Why We Offer This Scholarship

Why award $1,000 annually? It’s a commitment rooted in experience. For nearly 30 years, we’ve helped families navigate debt—including the $1.7 trillion student loan burden nationwide (Fed 2024)—and we’ve seen how early choices shape lives. Too many enter adulthood weighed down by bills; we’re determined to change that for the next generation. This scholarship embodies our nonprofit mission: to prepare students to live “Money Fit”—in command of their finances, not at their mercy. Past winners, from Kentucky’s rolling hills to New Jersey’s vibrant campuses, demonstrate the impact of a modest boost. It’s more than a check; it’s a foundation for financial independence.

Since 1996, Money Fit by DRS has forged a legacy of practical financial education, steering thousands toward stability. Today’s students face steep challenges—$410,000 home prices (St. Louis Fed 2025), 11% loan rates (Bankrate)—often with little guidance from profit-focused banks. Our scholarship delivers a clear call: begin early, plan wisely. Winners at University of Kentucky, Rutgers, and Kennesaw State turned $1,000 into tuition relief, study materials, or a financial cushion, proving small steps lead to significant gains. We’re here to ensure tomorrow’s leaders thrive, not just scrape by, building on nearly three decades of expertise.

Eligibility: Who Qualifies

This scholarship welcomes U.S. citizens or legal residents aged 16-20, enrolled in U.S. education programs. Eligible applicants include high school students in grades 9-12, college freshmen or sophomores taking 12 or more credits, and those in GED, correspondence, or homeschool programs at equivalent levels. Each student may submit only one entry; employees of Money Fit and judges’ family members are excluded. Full eligibility details are available at
moneyfit.org/scholarship. We’ve backed winners at top institutions—could you be next? The winner will be announced August 1, 2025.

How to Apply: The Process

The application period spans September 1, 2024, to July 15, 2025, closing at 11:59 PM HST. It’s a simple process: visit
moneyfit.org/scholarship-apply, answer 20 multiple-choice questions—your responses don’t affect your chances, they’re just a window into your thinking—and submit online. A randomized digital selection will determine the winner, revealed by August 1, 2025, with the $1,000 award distributed within three months. Winners provide a photo and school details for confirmation; unclaimed prizes lapse after 180 days. It’s an easy entry with a meaningful reward.

What “Money Fit” Means to Us

Living “Money Fit” is about balance—ensuring your finances serve you, not the other way around. In 2025, that involves navigating $410,000 home prices (St. Louis Fed), avoiding 11% loan rates (Bankrate), and saving for ambitions like college or a first car—not just patching emergencies. Our scholarship sows that seed: past winners offset tuition at Kentucky, secured supplies at Rutgers, or established a reserve at Kennesaw State. It’s $1,000, certainly, but it’s also a mindset—start prudently, stay ahead. For nearly 30 years, we’ve guided families to that clarity; now we’re extending it to students tackling a steeper financial landscape.

The Bigger Picture: 2025 and Beyond

In 2025, financial realities are stark—student debt lingers at $1.7 trillion (Fed 2024), home prices climb to $410,000 (St. Louis Fed), and Gen Z’s emerging $200B net worth (Forbes est.) is on the line. We introduced this scholarship in 2021 to address these pressures head-on, offering students a firm footing. Big banks prioritize profits over education; since 1996, we’ve championed financial wellness and we’re pressing forward. It’s designed for high schoolers eyeing college and sophomores forging ahead—apply by July 15, and you join a proven effort. Winners from Kentucky, Rutgers, and Kennesaw State turned $1,000 into tuition aid or textbooks. It’s your opportunity to take charge early and craft a secure financial future.
