Veterans do not have to navigate the next step alone
Mario Pile and Todd Christensen discuss the transition from military service into education, career training, entrepreneurship, apprenticeships, and other civilian opportunities.
Veterans Upward Bound is designed to help eligible veterans prepare for postsecondary education or training. Support can include academic planning, admissions assistance, financial-aid guidance, tutoring, academic assessments, referrals, and connections with other resources.
The conversation also focuses on something veterans may underestimate: many of the habits developed during military service can remain useful after separation. Discipline, follow-through, adaptability, teamwork, and the ability to learn in demanding environments can all become assets in the next stage of life.

Use the resources that already exist for the transition
Veterans may be eligible for education benefits, academic support, career resources, community programs, or other assistance they have never used before. Before paying out of pocket or trying to solve every part of a transition alone, it can be worth identifying the veteran-specific resources available locally and through federal programs.
